FAQ

Last questions before we begin.

Questions you probably have right now.

Across our benchmarking on GCSE mock exams in humanities subjects, DeepMark’s marks very closely tracked those of experienced AQA markers — many with decades of marking experience. It even picked up things they missed.

The honest answer: accuracy varies by subject, question type, and how you personally mark. That’s expected — and it’s why you’re always in the loop. You can calibrate DeepMark to match your own marking style.

Think of it the way you’d think about a really capable trainee marker. Very good first pass. You’d still check it. The final call is always yours.

AI makes mistakes — sure. But so do humans. That’s why you’re in the driving seat.

Yes — and the government is actively encouraging it. In June 2025, the Department for Education updated its guidance to encourage schools to deploy artificial intelligence tools to reduce teacher workload, with appropriate safeguards and human oversight.

Many teachers use DeepMark as a personal professional tool.

Different schools have different policies. If you want to bring DeepMark to your school formally — whether that’s a conversation with your HoD or a presentation to SLT — we’ve made that easy. We’ve put together a short, plain-English briefing note covering what DeepMark is, how data is handled, and what the DfE says about it.

Yes — always. Every mark on every script.

  • DeepMark does the first pass
  • You review, agree, or override — question by question
  • Nothing is confirmed without your sign-off
  • Your adjustments are logged throughout

DeepMark is a drafting tool. You are the examiner.

Yes. And this is something we take seriously — not as a box-ticking exercise.

  • KCSIE-aligned. Built around DfE safeguarding guidance.
  • UK-hosted on AWS London. Data stays in the UK.
  • Never used to train AI — contractual and technical constraint, not a promise.
  • Encrypted end-to-end. HTTPS/TLS in transit and at rest.
  • Anonymised by default. DPIA-ready documentation available.
  • Delete on request. No lock-in, ever.

  • To test it out — snap a few scripts on your phone. Takes 30 seconds. Good for seeing how it works.
  • For a real class set — scan to a single PDF on your school’s photocopier. Most reprographics departments will do a whole class in minutes if you ask.
  • For stapled booklets — ask reprographics to scan the whole set. Upload the PDF and you’re done.
The phone snap flow is for trialling. The PDF scan is how most teachers mark day to day.
  • Upload your question paper, mark scheme, and student scripts as one batch
  • DeepMark marks every question for every student
  • You review, edit where needed, and confirm
  • Export and you’re done

A class set that might take a week fits into a single PPA for most teachers.

What teachers are saying

Quietly giving teachers
their weekends back.

A set of 28 assessments usually takes me a week on and off, but I managed to mark this class in a single PPA.
Terence · GCSE/A-Level Business · Hackney
The feedback was far more detailed than what I'd have time to write. The students found it extremely helpful.
Louise · GCSE English · Caterham
Just marked a class. DeepMark did the first marking, I went over it, it was actually quite easy. I'm certainly not going back to pen and paper!
Adam · GCSE Media Studies · Watford
